Biography
A critically-acclaimed young violinist and composer who favors juxtaposing extremes, Zach Brock draws upon the oldest traditions of his instrument while also brilliantly incorporating musical influences of artists as diverse as John Coltrane and Jimi Hendrix. His iconoclastic approach to playing the violin and composing has excited many in the music industry and places him at the forefront of his genre.
On February 15, 2005, Brock released Chemistry, the 2nd CD with his long-time band, The Coffee Achievers, comprised of pianist Sam Barsh, bassist Matt Wigton and drummer Nori Tanaka. Featuring original material written by Brock, Barsh and Wigton, Chemistry makes it clear that the band has just that and that with Brock at the helm, no two songs from this band are alike. A remarkable achiever himself, Brock produced the CD for his own label, Secret Fort Records. He formed The Coffee Achievers after meeting Barsh and Wigton during his 2002 scholarship residency with legendary vocalist Betty Carter's Jazz Ahead program at the Kennedy Center in Washington D.C. Their first CD, Zach Brock & The Coffee Achievers, attracted major attention on the college scene---Chemistry is already being noticed well beyond!
As a child, Brock performed with his classically trained parents and soon dreamed of becoming a musician himself. To pursue that dream, he left his hometown of Lexington, Kentucky, to attend college in Chicago. After performing at the annual jazz conference (IAJE) in Chicago in 1997, Brock began appearing regularly with an exciting young group, Spazztet. In 2000 the NEA and Smithsonian Institution honored Brock with a grant to create a concert/lecture showcase to illuminate contributions of early American jazz violin pioneers. A pioneer himself, Brock was the featured guest soloist with the Chicago Jazz Ensemble in 2001 and performed with Mose Allison, Patricia Barber, Kurt Elling, John Abercrombie and Chris Potter soon thereafter. Besides leading the Coffee Achievers and his quartet, Brock regularly collaborates with local guitar legend, John McLean and Polish vocal sensation, Grazyna Auguscik - both of whom he joined at Pritzker Pavilion for a January winter concert presented by the City of Chicago. Brock's music has been featured in theater productions and will be showcased in the upcoming documentary film, Fair Days. Since 2003 Brock has co-led a quintet with saxophone phenomenon, Rob Scheps, and has played with violist, Tom Wright, with whom Brock has recorded a spring '05 release for Delmark Records. Carnegie Hall selected Brock for its Dave Douglas Residency that began April 13 and concluded with a Carnegie Hall performance April 18.
Zach Brock & The Coffee Achievers are currently preparing for a summer '05 tour that will take them through parts of the Midwest and the east coast.

Farah's power resonates from her story of growth, realization, love, and spirituality. Farah' s voice transcends through her music sharing with her audience a sense of self and feeling as though she's been by your side all your life. She speaks to you on every level abandoning any preconceived notions of unfamiliarity. She sings from her heart, speaks from her heart and loves unconditionally from her heart. She is versatile, all encompassing, passionate and full of life.
Never knowing her potential as a singer/songwriter, Farah struggled with herself and her dreams for years before realizing how much "music" was innate to her and fulfilled her like nothing else. Her family recognized her sadness and helped Farah to make her dreams come true.
Farah began to meet and sing for local clubs and venues but still didn't know what her power really was until one day she met, truly by fate, a friend that introduced her to Mark Hladish Sr. a producer from Walworth, Wisconsin. From that day forward began the real journey into being a singer/songwriter.
Almost a year has gone by and Farah, a mother of twin girls, wife, friend sister, daughter and woman has worked extremely hard to see her goal through.
Farah's music is the outlet to her amazing gift, personality, charm and charismatic nature.
Farah is a natural human being and believes her music, her life and the trials and tribulations along the way have only made her the unique individual she is today.

BRANDON PATTON - Acoustic * Brooklyn, New York
Instrumentation
Brandon Patton - acoustic guitar, vocals, bass, drum machine, sampler
Biography
The Long Story
Brandon Patton fell in love with recording himself at the tender age of four when his mother brought home a dictation machine. He would also play drums along to Beatles records, using whatever kitchen implements he could find. At age 10, unsatisfied with Casey Kasem's American Top 40, he started keeping a weekly list of his own American Top 15. As a teen, Patton was exposed to the Minneapolis music scene of the late- eighties/early-nineties. There was also a vibrant DIY underground of zine writers and indie bands who would brandish the word sellout and discuss politics in independent coffeehouses and alternative art galleries. In high school, after a girl he dated was left in a coma after a car accident, his music took a more serious turn, and he acquired a taste for acoustic songwriting. In college, he started hanging around a group of ethnomusicologist graduate students and soaking up their worldly music knowledge. After college, Patton found summer work playing happy island music for tourists on Cape Cod, but quickly realized he was on a fast track toward soul death, and afterward became a hermit for a year in western Massachusetts, where he recorded his first album, Nocturnal. He purchased a UPC code and released it on his own label.
A year later, he formed the hard rock trio three against four with guitarist Anand Nayak (currently of Rani Arbo and Daisy Mayhem). They befriended a mixing engineer one day after wandering down a dirt road and stumbling upon Mark Alan Miller (of Out Out), who had worked with nearly every rock group in Western Massachusetts, including area royalty J.Mascis. Patton and Nayak developed a collaborative routine with Miller, recording their songs at their home studio and then bringing in the tracks for mixing at Miller's now legendary Slaughterhouse Recording Studio, housed in an actual slaughterhouse. Their first album was titled Some of us are Here (1998), a reference to their continuing search for a permanent drummer (and also a skit from Sesame Street). It was, like all of Patton's projects, a wildly eclectic album, veering from oversexed blues-rock to literate acoustic balladry to spastic manifestos to spooky funk to polyrhythmic, mournful indie rock. Three against four eventually found their drummer, the hard-hitting Jay Skowronek (currently of Maxeen) and started to go on self-booked tours. By 2000 the group had built up a following, awkwardly schmoozed it at the Sundance Film Festival, placed music in an assy Hollywood movie, and been coughed on by many a skeevy bar hag. Their year as underpaid road warriors doing the unglamorous grind of self-booked shows had a musical impact. They started to write edgier, angrier music. But it also started to wear away at the band's morale. They returned to the studio and started recording a harder, louder rock record. But the band eventually split up in the midst of recording. When Dan Cantor, a producer from Boston (Hummer and Jim's Big Ego) heard the tracks they had abandoned, he jumped in and helped catalyze the band to soldier through and finish the record. The album became their swan song and they became more creative with the studio, spending almost a year recording and re-recording an album they all knew they would never tour behind to support. Hey, Sparkle Eyes (2000) was the result. A record of extremes, the sounds vary from heavy distortion to sparkling clean electric tones, the mixes from dense to spacious, and the emotions span from bitter disappointment to frivolous mania. ACM Records offered the band a publishing deal once the album was finished, and although the band never reunited, songs from Hey Sparkle Eyes found their way into the soundtracks of several shows, including Monster Garage (Discovery Channel) and The Real World (MTV).
With three against four a thing of the past, Patton again focused on his solo career, fled the East Coast, and holed up on a ranch in Arizona for five weeks to write new material. Over the next three years, Patton shuttled between Boston and Northern California writing and recording his songs. At the same time, he worked as a sideman for Universal Records artist Matt Nathanson and toured with Solea (featuring ex-members of Samiam) who had a spot opening up for Rival Schools. Should Confusion, completed in the fall of 2003 and released in 2004, is a chronicle of the journeys Patton has undertaken since striking out on his own. The difficulty of long distance relationships (3100 Miles) stark self-appraisal (Counting the Paces) and memories of an abused friend (What's the Worst That Could Happen?) mingle with lighter notes on classroom fantasies (Auspicious Moment) and the unreliable nature of infatuation (Did That All Before.) The album's music is equally diverse: 3100 Miles mixes world and electronic elements with a New-Orleans-style horn section, What's The Worst breaks into a galloping rock-chorus, and Did That All Before has a twenties-jazz arrangement complete with stride piano, superimposed over an alt-country sound. The threads that run throughout are Patton's thoughtful, honest lyrics and his acoustic guitar playing, which varies from expressively simple to fiercely rhythmic. Like some found diary from a lost wanderer, Should Confusion is a collection of heart-sore longings and manic freak-outs that capture the difficulty of steering when you can't find the wheel.
Patton also recorded a song for the tsunami-relief fundraiser CD Indie Pop Cares A lot. More information can be found at www.indiepopcaresalot.org.

REBEKAH JORDAN - Pop - Cleveland, OH & Santa Monica, CA
http://myspace.com/rebekahjordan
Instrumentation
Rebekah Jordan- keyboards, guitar, vocals * Jessica Catron- cello, vocals * John Ballinger- guitar, clarinet, vocals * Butch- drums, percussion, vocals
Biography
Rebekah Jordan's "the trouble with fiction" is music for wallflowers and dreamers with a.d.d., a gentle mix of genres held together by velvety vocals and a unique point of view, and not what people tend to expect from a girl raised in an all black neighborhood in Cleveland.
"My father worked in a steel mill when I was young, and when he came home he wanted to get as far away from that world as possible. Music was the easiest escape." So Rebekah grew up in a home filled with the sounds of everything from Debussy to Donny Hathaway, Joao Gilberto to James Cleveland, and with the sense that musically, anything is possible, a concept in direct opposition to the urban limitations surrounding her.
As much as she loved music, pursuing it as a career never seemed feasible or wise. "Where I'm from you grow up and you get a job. A real job." So after high school, Rebekah went off to study biomedical engineering. "I showed up wearing moccasins and mood rings, blasting the Cocteau Twins. To say I didn't fit in would be an understatement. People always thought I was in the wrong building. They would point me towards the art department. One day I realized they were right." So here we are.
Rebekah financed, produced and is now releasing her 6 song EP, "the trouble with fiction", through her own Tea Party Records. For the recordings, Rebekah enlisted the help of the very talented musicians who play with her on stage. Butch (from the Eels, Rufus Wainwright, and Tracy Chapman) on drums and percussion, John Ballinger (from Rufus Wainwright) on guitar and clarinet, and Jessica Catron on cello. The EP consists of 5 original songs and what is becoming a signature cover of "Dreams" by Stevie Nicks.
"I'd never been the producer before, so it was definitely a learning experience. I didn't want to record the songs bit by bit, one instrument or one track at a time. Music is meant to be played. That's what we do live, so that's what we did in the studio. We sat and played the songs."
Along the way, Rebekah has had lead roles in two feature films, "Liberty Heights" directed by Barry Levinson (Avalon, Rain man, Diner) and the indie film "Latter Days" directed by C.J. Cox. But music is her love. On any given day, she'd rather be writing songs. Good thing, since one of her songs, "Beautiful Disaster", was recorded by Kelly Clarkson for both her debut album and her current release.
Rebekah never imagined she'd be wearing so many hats: artist, writer, producer, and label. "Being independent is more than a notion. I never planned it this way. Necessity being the mother of invention, this is just how it's happened. And it's hard. But with each little victory you're more encouraged and it's incredibly empowering watching the seeds you plant grow."
*Rebekah will play as a trio at the annual South Park Music Festival on September 9, 2005
*Rebekah will be showcasing with her band at the annual NEMO Music Conference in Boston, September 29-October 1, 2005

http://www.analovelis.com
Instrumentation
Ana- Lead vocals, guitar and antics * Matt Dorsey- Bass, background vocals, Robbi Black- Drums, electronics
Johnny Rockstar- Guitars * K-Dog- Electronics
Biography
At 5'2, this crooner makes up for her petite ninety-nine pound frame with a powerful and provocative vocal style and range not cut from the same mold as today's pop singers. Accented with a satirical lyric writing ability her can't get it out of my head melodies are well found throughout this entire album. You get the sense of musical diversity from the garage-rock track Nothing but love to the riot girl feminism exemplified in I'm a girl, Step up to the plate and kinda girl you love. A stark emotional search for intimacy in Venus and perhaps the loveliest and most naked song on the album Come down on me.
While her songs are reminiscent of Madonna and Gwen Stefani, it's her unforgettable stage performances which mirror such energies as Freddie Mercury, Scott Weiland, and Cyndi Lauper that give credence to her belief that we take ourselves way too seriously.
Born in Philadelphia, this multifaceted entertainer was classically trained in ballet, jazz and musical theatre. Through high school she found herself constantly resisting conformity and developing a rebellious nature, which drove her to the streets and clubs of the New York City underground where she began fronting a speed ukulele punk band Uke till you puke. Her natural ability to write melodies, lyrics and songs grabbed the attention of music industry pundits who placed her collaborating experience with modern pro pop writers such as The Matrix, Matthew Gerrard, Shep and Kenny and others.
On top of the new release, she has relocated from NYC to Los Angeles and has been most ambitious, a self-proclaimed workaholic. In the summer of 2004, she and her band DOXY entered and won Playboy.com's America's Best Unsigned Band contest with their recoil hit Mother of a hit song, a response to being a slave to your record label. She has had songs in three independent films and is currently working on a screenplay based on her life titled Bipolar Girl. The finishing touches are also being put on a book of short stories and poems Drinking Bullets While Drowning on Mars.

MEZKLAH - LATIN ALTERNATIVE - Los Angeles, CA
http://www.mezklah.com
Mezklah embodies L.A.'s evolutionary and revolutionary musical and artistic expression. In popular Latin publication Al Borde, Executive Editor Jesus Olvera wrote Mezklah is one of the reasons why we can keep believing in Los Angeles as the place that germinates genius every once in a while. For the past three years, this Tribal Electronica duo has performed in established venues as well as cultural and community centers in Los Angeles and Mexico. Mezklah toured Mexico twice in 2003 and are back in LA finishing their ten-track CD, Spidermonkey.
The name Mezklah is derived from the Spanish word mescla, which means a mix. Their first CD, to be released at the beginning of 2004, combines funk, reggae, trip hop, and Afro-Cuban rhythms with drum n' bass beats. Angel Garcia (singer, songwriter, and visual artist) brings forth a passionate and powerful vocal presence, which is as diverse as Mezklah's rhythmic styles. Guitarist Greg Hernandez, who has been a part of Mezklah since its conception, delivers a raw and melodic sound as well as a passionate performance.
Angel's and Greg's friendship and musical collaboration began in 1997 with Circa, a project initiated shortly after they met through a mutual friend and inspired by the alternative rock sound popular at the time. Angel had a collection of guitar-driven songs, which he performed solo at open mics in and around Hollywood. He was heavily influenced by the alternative rock scene, including bands like Jane's Addiction, Radiohead, and Love and Rockets, which had a big impact on his vocal and guitar style. Shortly after Angel and Greg met, they knew there was a sense of chemistry and magic in the project and within three months, the now best friends had put together a short set best suited for L.A.'s open mic circuit.
By 1999, the alternative rock bug had run its course. And now, Angel not only wanted to change the sound and name of the project, but also diversify his lyrics by singing in Spanish. It was something he had never tried before, but was so eager to accomplish. As a Chicano with deep roots in the state of Michoacan, Mexico, whose father had made the journey to the U.S. in 1969 as a migrant worker struggling to raise a large family, Angel had only to flex his lyrical tongue to express and reveal a world that had never left him.
Greg also felt it was time to break the constraints of what they had become accustomed to musically. Born in Southern California and of mixed German and Mexican descent, Greg's influences are many; from the laid back easy grooves of R&B, to the early Reggae roots, to Garage Land Punk Rock' of the U.K., to the mix of p-funk, as well as the late 1970's performance art style of New York Punk Rock. And although it took some time to break the old habits, they persisted, and to this day continue on their exotic musical journey.
A major source of inspiration for both Angel and Greg came from three DJ's who were also good friends, D.J. Praise One, Late, and Sheak One. They introduced Mezklah to an exciting new style of music coming out of the U.K. This was the beginning of a new way of making music. After buying a sampler and a couple of drum machines, Angel and Greg went to work combining all of the influences past and present while discovering the realm of World Music through KPFK, a local radio station in L.A.
In 1999, while searching out other members who were interested in creating a new sound, Angel ran into producer and engineer Eric Alatan. Born and raised in London, England with roots in Nigeria, Eric moved and settled in L.A. in 1990. Back in London, Eric became a promoter in the underground rave scene where Techno, Jungle, and Drum n' Bass took over and became his musical inspiration. When they met, Eric lived in a section of L.A. known as Silverlake where he ran a home studio. After listening to Angel play one of his songs in the living room of a mutual friend, Eric agreed to record the material Angel and Greg were working on. Now all of the elements had finally come together to create a new sound.
Mezklah's first full-length CD is scheduled for a 2004 release. All of the tracks were recorded at BFS studios in Los Angeles, California, by producer and engineer Eric Alatan. All songs were produced by Eric Alatan and co-produced by Angel Garcia. All songs were written by Angel Garcia and co-written by Eric Alatan.
